Hoping For A Miracle
With wrinkled homework
and sack lunch
in hand,

in a weak gesture
of piety,
hoping just this once

high overhead
there was a sudden garish splash
of tumbling yellow,
and
holding my breath,
arms outstretched,
i attempted
the
seemingly impossible
task of
catching the bus.
