Progress

Progress

There was a time,
Once upon,

When

Men lifted the hood
Of their car
With confidence,
Rag and wrench in hand

To diagnose and
Repair the machinery
Found there.

And a similar time,
Once upon,

When

Women
Opened recipe books
With happy hearts,
Measuring cups in hand

To create something
Delicious of simple
Ingredients.

Electronics and takeout
have fixed all that nonsense.

  1. Excellent! This is a perfect example of our society’s detachment from connecting with the world around us and our personal interaction with it. It says quite a bit in its brevity and truth. Well done.

  2. Thank you for kind words and understanding, Lynn. There is no escape from the clutches of progress, but to some of us it leaves a bad taste in our mouths. Glad you like my simple attempts at writing. Stay strong. Our troubled world needs ever so much more of you. j
